The second Workshop of GE Academy was successfully held in Barcelona
After the first workshop in Dublin, Ireland GE Academy completed another hands-on training session, this time in Barcelona, Spain. The workshop lasted two days, from 18th to 19th of November, and it was hosted by the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG). Titled “Dealing with resistances”, the workshop elaborated on identifying, analysing and addressing different types of resistances towards gender equality plans, especially in the academic field.
Dr Lucy Ferguson, one of the leading specialists in gender training worldwide with profound research experience on gender training topics, was the coordinator of the event. The workshop was participant-oriented as it sought to strengthen the capacity of attendees to explore their reactions regarding the resistant behaviour towards gender equality plans and assist them in handling them in an emotionally balanced and strategical manner.
Through an interactive and immersive set of activities, the participants had the chance to recognise their attitude on dealing with conflicting situations and resistances towards changes that bring gender equality. This way, the workshop allowed the participants to learn from each other and -guided by Dr Ferguson- to understand the processes needed to overcome such difficulties.
